Costa Mesa, CALIF. (July 23, 2024) – In their own words, Carpet Company “sucks.” Literally — that’s what co-founders (and brothers) Ayman and Osama Abdeldayem decorated the foxing of their all-new Vans Skate Half Cab® collaboration with an embossed hit of Arabic text that, when translated into English, reads “Carpet Company sucks.” Self-effacing humor, a creative spirit and an overarching goal of have a good time with your friends while making cool stuff have garnered the Baltimore-based brand immense renown in both the skate and streetwear spheres — and now the Carpet Company crew has linked up with Vans Skateboarding for the first time on a capsule of collaborative footwear and apparel that salutes their unique energy.
The Vans Skateboarding x Carpet Company collection features three footwear styles: two versions of the Skate Half Cab® and one reimagined Skate Cab 4 style. All three pairs feature high-quality materials, including faux croc skin (referred to as "dragon leather" by the Carpet Company) layered over premium leather, paying homage to Steve Caballero's iconic dragon logo. The Skate Cab 4 prominently features the dragon logo. Other custom details include Arabic text, Carpet Company's signature "C Star" logo in both embroidered and printed forms, a unique woven Half Cab label, and a special box. The Skate Half Cab® comes in violet/marshmallow and black/marshmallow.
The dragon logo mentioned earlier is seen on the collection's apparel, which includes two T-shirts and matching socks. The lookbook, inspired by auto racing and captured by photographer Anthony Acosta, features not only Carpet Company's founders Ayman and Osama but also actor Blake Anderson, Vans Global Brand Curator Atiba Jefferson and his brother Ako, and even Steve Caballero himself.
The Vans Skateboarding x Carpet Company collection will be exclusively released on Carpet Company’s web store. The Black/Marshmallow Skate Half Cab® will also be available at select skate shops worldwide on July 25.
