For a long time in Japan there have been master craftsmen called Miya Daiku. Highly skilled, traditional carpenters who specialize in shrine and temple architecture, they are known for making full use of their construction materials. For example, if they find a gnarled or imperfect piece of wood, they are able to see its full potential instead of discarding it because of its flaws.

Shape determines how an item will be used. I believe this is what design can do. “Placing things where they should be” on the assumption that necessity dictates its use. Trying to maximize the potential of things within the limits of the design.

That is our philosophy.
