Vans x Free Skate Mag Release Footwear Collection
Vans and renowned skate magazine, Free Skate Mag have teamed up on their first footwear collection, dropping this week.
Vans x Free Skate Mag Present: Full Circle
Anybody with an interest in modern skateboarding will already be well aware of Free magazine, the bi-monthly publication that's been opening minds, kickstarting conversations and questioning conformity across Europe and the world since 2015.
Vans and Free decided to rework two of Free’s favourite past and present silhouettes – the Skate Sid and Skate Half Cab ’92. These two classic Vans Skateboarding styles have been given the Free treatment – with the magazine’s signature red ‘dot’ on the insole and outsole of both shoes and a subtle nod on the Half Cab eyelet. The shoes are given a premium execution with full leather uppers – The Sid in nubuck and the Half Cab in suede and feature the full Vans Skateboarding tech feature set – Duracap for durability, Sickstick Rubber for grip and Pop Cush for impact protection and comfort.
To celebrate the collaboration, Vans and Free Skate Mag donated €30,000 to City Mill Skate for their Skate Dots, located on Pool Street in East London. The inauguration of the park coincides with the collaboration launch and so to celebrate the occasion, on September 10th Vans and Free will screen Full Circle, a new video from Vans Europe curated by Free Skate Mag. This skate trip to Switzerland had the team gathering footage in Zürich, Basel, Fribourg and Geneva. As one of the most central countries in Europe, filming in Switzerland with some of the best European riders seemed like a great metaphor to showcase the best of what the continent has to offer.
The Vans x FSM footwear collection will be available at select skate retailers on September 9th at 4.30pm CET.
